From Pantry to Pumpkin: How I Transformed a Pickle Jar into a Fall Vase
At Creative Hearts Corner, I’m always on the lookout for ways to turn everyday items into something truly special. For this project, I’ve upcycled a simple pickle jar into a beautiful, fall-inspired vase. While the transformation is still in progress, I’m excited to share the steps I’ve taken so far!
The Inspiration Behind the Project
Upcycling has always been one of my favorite ways to craft, allowing me to take ordinary items and give them new life. When I found an old pickle jar, I saw its potential for a seasonal centerpiece. With fall right around the corner, I knew a pumpkin-themed vase would be a perfect way to celebrate the season.
Materials I Used
The project began with gathering a few key materials. I started by spray-painting the jar glossy black, creating a sleek base for the transformation. Then, using IOD Clay and molds, I began adding texture and dimension. The clay designs will dry and later be painted to bring out their intricate details.

Once the clay was molded, I carefully applied it to the jar. This step brings the whole project to life by adding a custom touch with my favorite fall shapes and designs. The jar is currently drying, and I’m eagerly awaiting the next steps!
Why I Love This Project
This project is a perfect way to bring a personal, handcrafted touch to your fall décor. I love how the simple act of adding clay to the jar completely transforms its look. Once I finish painting and waxing it, the full design will come together, creating a charming autumn centerpiece for any home.
